Bought a fancy 'smoke ring enhancer' powder online and it was a total scam

I saw this ad for something called 'Smoke Magic Dust' that promised a perfect smoke ring every time, no matter what. Spent $45 on it, tried it on a brisket last weekend, and it just made the bark taste like chemicals. The smoke ring looked fake and washed out after resting, too. Anyone else get tricked by one of these gimmicks before?

I used to believe those products might have some secret trick to them. Seeing that perfect smoke ring in ads always made me curious. After a similar experience with a different brand, I realized it's just colored salt and stuff that ruins the meat. A good smoke ring comes from clean smoke and time, not from a jar. It's a shame they can sell such junk to folks trying to learn. You're better off keeping that money for a better cut of meat.

Yeah, "clean smoke and time" is the only real trick.

Magic dust for meat sounds like a cartoon villain's plan.
