Just learned Myron Mixon only cooked his first whole hog at age 33

I was listening to an old BBQ Central podcast from 2018 and Mixon said he didn't touch a whole hog until he was 33 years old, which blew my mind since he acts like he came out of the womb with a pair of insulated gloves on. Meanwhile I've been stressed about my brisket game at 29 like I'm already behind schedule. If a 3 time world champ started that late, what am I even worried about? Anybody else hear a pitmaster origin story that made you rethink your own timeline?
