Skipped the hashtag dump, went hyper local, doubled my reach in ten days

I used to throw 25 hashtags on every post and get maybe 200 views. Last week I picked ONE neighborhood tag for my city, Austin, and one specific niche tag for my coffee shop niche and dropped the rest entirely. My last reel hit 1,400 organic views and 30 new follows, which is bonkers for a page with 800 followers. Anyone else ditched the shotgun hashtag approach for a laser focused one?

...and honestly it reminds me of when I stopped tagging every single location in my photos on my own page. I used to drop like five different spots thinking it would get more eyes, but it just made people confused about where I actually was. Now I only tag the one cafe or park I'm really at and the engagement feels way more real, people actually reply with their own stories about that place. Kind of wild how less noise gets you more actual conversation, do you think it works better for certain types of content than others?
