A TikTok creator told me my captions were killing my reach - I fixed one thing and views tripled
I've been posting short clips about woodworking for about 8 months, getting maybe 200 views per video. Last week a guy in the comments said 'your content is solid but nobody reads past line 1 of your caption because you bury the hook'. He was right. I was writing long paragraphs about the process. Now I put the main idea in the first 2 lines, add a line break, then the rest. First video with the new format got 4,200 views. Anyone else had a small tweak from feedback that made a big difference?

Actually that's a really good point about 'actually'. I used to do the same thing without noticing. But I think you might be mixing up cause and effect a little. Most viewers aren't reading comment replies before watching a video. People might have just liked what you were saying more once you dropped the condescending tone. It probably made your replies feel friendlier which builds trust over time. Still a solid tweak though.

Oh man, you just called me out hard. I am the queen of accidentally sounding like a know-it-all without meaning to. It is honestly kind of embarrassing how long it took me to realize people were taking my "actually" comments as me being a jerk. I wonder how many people just silently hated me for years before I figured it out. At least I can laugh at myself now, right? It is a solid life lesson though most people don't want to be corrected even if you are right.

Mine was when a YouTuber told me to stop using the word 'actually' in every comment reply lol. I was doing it without thinking. Once I cut it out my engagement went up because people stopped feeling like I was correcting them all the time.
