Split test on two hooks proved my gut wrong, and now I feel dumb

Last week I ran a split test on two reel hooks for the same repair clip. One was a question, the other was a blunt statement. The statement got 3x the views in 24 hours, about 12k total, while the question stalled at 4k. I was sure the question would win because it felt more engaging. Have any of you found that the less clever hook usually performs better?

Question hooks are a trap for people who overthink. The algorithm rewards instant comprehension, not cleverness. Maybe your gut was just overthinking what the audience actually wants.
