I visited a local art fair in Portland last weekend and talked to a painter who sells her work at booths like that. She told me her sales dropped about 40 percent in the last year because people keep saying "why pay $200 for a print when I can type a prompt and get something similar for free." The thing is, the AI stuff lacks the soul and the little imperfections that make human art special. I get that it's a cool tool for brainstorming or whatever, but I feel like the community here acts like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Had the weirdest week in my garden last June

I'm still thinking about that one week last June where everything went crazy. My tomatoes grew like 6 inches in 5 days after a heat wave hit. Then a storm came through and snapped two of my sunflower stalks right in half. I ended up with a ton of basil that I had to give away to neighbors because I couldn't use it fast enough. It was like the plants were on some kind of wild schedule I couldn't keep up with. Has anyone else had a season where everything just exploded at once?

Last Tuesday was the worst shift I've had in 5 years of running CNCs

Had a job making some aluminum brackets for a local shop in Denver. Nothing crazy, about 200 pieces. First thing that went wrong was a collet nut that wouldn't tighten right on machine #2. Then the coolant pump on machine #1 started making this whining noise and just died mid cycle. Lost like 3 hours. Then at 2pm I realize the offsets on machine #3 got shifted somehow, scrapped about 15 parts before I caught it. By 4pm I was at 45 good parts and the rest was all bad. Boss was pissed. Said I gotta make up the time this week. Anyone else have one of those days where everything just falls apart at once?

Old foreman swore by running the cutterhead at half speed in mud. He was dead wrong.

Worked a job in Baton Rouge last summer, dredging a silted-up canal. Foreman kept yelling at me to drop the cutter RPMs to 12 when we hit soft mud. Said it would keep the pump from cavitating. I listened for a week and got maybe 30 yards done a day. Swapped back to 18 RPM on my own and production jumped to almost 80 yards a day. Pump never cavitated once. Anyone else get bad advice from someone who just refused to update their methods?
