Finally got a seized seatpost out of a 90s Trek with a bag of ice and a heat gun.
After three days of soaking it in penetrating oil did nothing, I froze the post for an hour, then heated the frame tube for 30 seconds, and it twisted right out.

My old shop teacher swore by penetrating oil for stuck parts. After seeing this thermal shock trick work on a vintage Schwinn last year, I'm a total convert. It just breaks the bond in a way chemicals can't.

Ever try the hot water trick on a frozen car lock? Works like magic when nothing else will, and it's way faster than waiting for oil to soak in. That thermal shock really is something else.

Totally get why you'd switch, @lilykelly, but I still keep a can of penetrant on hand for when heat isn't an option.
