Debate: Is it better to binge a show week by week or wait and watch it all at once?

I tried watching Severance as it aired weekly and it was torture waiting 7 days for each cliffhanger, but my buddy swears that slow burn made him appreciate the details more. Last month I caved and binged The Bear in 2 days and felt kinda empty after, like I missed the hype train. Which camp are you in: savor the suspense or just rip through it like a bandaid?

Honestly I think we're acting like this is way more serious than it needs to be. Like yeah I get the whole "savoring the story" thing but at the end of the day it's just TV. I binged Severance in two days and still caught all the little details people are talking about online. You don't need a week gap to appreciate a good show, you just need to pay attention. The weekly model is mostly just a marketing trick to keep people subscribed longer and generate free buzz on social media. Nobody sat around theorizing about The Office every week back in the day and that show turned out fine.

I read an article in The Atlantic last month about how shows like Severance are designed to be talked about between episodes, like a shared experience. That weekly wait forces you to sit with the mystery and theorize with other people online, which is half the fun. But then I tried binging The Bear in a day and felt like I blew through a gourmet meal in two minutes. Isn't the whole point of a good story to let it sink in over time, not just check it off a list?

That line you wrote about "blowing through a gourmet meal in two minutes" really stuck with me because it describes exactly how I felt after binging The Bear. But here's what I keep going back and forth on. When you watch week to week, are you really savoring the story or are you just getting distracted by fan theories and predictions that might not even be right? Because I spent half of Severance season one reading Reddit posts instead of just enjoying what was on screen. So my question for you is this: do you think the weekly model actually makes the show better or does it just give people an excuse to overanalyze everything?
