Had to pick between starting The Bear or Shrinking last night and went with The Bear, which had me hooked by the end of the first episode.
I was up way too late because I just had to see what happened after that first chaotic dinner service, so what's a good show to watch next that has that same kind of fast-paced energy?

Actually, there's a weirdly good match in the old show "Terriers" from like 2010. It's not about food at all, it's about two down-on-their-luck private detectives. But the whole thing has this frantic, chatty energy where everything feels like it's about to fall apart... and the chemistry between the leads is just as good as the kitchen crew. It got canceled after one season but it's a complete story.

Oh man, you fell into the classic "just one more episode" trap with The Bear, didn't you? That show is a black hole for free time. Wilson.sam has a point about the real life kitchen disaster shows, but honestly, watching Gordon Ramsay yell at people for having a dirty fridge is just depressing after the artful chaos of The Bear. For that same "everything is falling apart but in a cool way" feeling, you need to watch the movie "Uncut Gems." It's just two hours of Adam Sandler making increasingly bad choices while everyone yells, and your heart tries to beat out of your chest. It's the same kind of stressful, can't-look-away energy.

That first season of The Bear really does pull you in with all that kitchen chaos. Since you like that fast-paced, high-stress energy, have you tried watching any of those real-life restaurant shows? I'm thinking of something like the old episodes of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, where he walks into a failing place and everything is on fire. It has that same sense of immediate crisis The Bear captures so well.
