Was that the best way to watch it or the worst? I read somewhere the creator said the show is meant to feel a bit claustrophobic, so being stuck in a dark house probably added to the vibe.

The creator actually said it's meant to feel expansive, not claustrophobic. That was a key point in an interview last month. The whole idea is the opposite, showing how big and empty the world feels after the event. So being stuck inside might work against what they were going for. It could make it feel small and cramped when the show wants you to feel lost and alone in a huge space.
