DAE think the "no food on the table" rule is overrated? I almost ruined a game night over this.
Last Friday at my buddy Dave's place, I brought snacks to his Gloomhaven night and he FLIPPED saying no food near the board. I get it, grease stains suck, but we played for 4 hours straight and everyone was starving and distracted. He says it's about respect for the components, but I think it kills the vibe. Maybe there's a middle ground like using side tables or coasters? Has anyone else found a way to make this work without getting yelled at?

You said he mentioned 'respect for the components' - does he actually treat the board like some sacred artifact or is he just worried about sticky fingers ruining the cards?

He's probably just being practical about it, right? If someone's got Cheeto dust on their fingers and decides to grab your ten thousand dollar deck, that's a real problem. Why risk it when you can just be a little dramatic about the whole thing.
