I just found out how many board games are in the BGG database and my mind is blown

I was on BoardGameGeek last night, just looking up a rule for Terraforming Mars, and I saw the total game count on the front page. It's over 140,000. I had no idea the number was that high. I thought maybe 30,000 or 40,000 at most. It really makes you think about how many games are out there that you'll never even hear about. Has anyone else had a moment like this with a stat from the site?

Focusing on the top few hundred is smart, that's how I avoid getting lost in all those games.

The number is crazy. I just focus on the top couple hundred on the list. It's the only way to not get overwhelmed.

Yeah, that stat is wild. I had the same shock when I saw it a few years ago and it was only at like 90,000. It makes me wonder what hidden gems are buried way down in the rankings that I'll never find.
