We had like 6 people one night and tried to run Terraforming Mars, got through maybe 3 rounds before everyone was just chatting and not paying attention. Switched to Codenames and the vibe flipped completely, people were laughing and actually hanging out instead of staring at their player mats. Sometimes a shorter game just fits the energy of the group better.
