Compartmentalizing is key, but my wall's made of cheap drywall. One good story and the whole thing comes down.

Tell her you compartmentalize to get through the day. I had to explain that if I brought every close call or injury home, I'd be a wreck. It's not about keeping secrets, it's about putting up a wall so you can keep doing the job and still be present for your family.
