Reading the end of the book first started a huge club fight

Three months ago I admitted at our meeting that I always skim the last chapter before the group discussion. It's not a spoiler thing, I just like knowing where the plot is going so I can follow the clues. Two members called it cheating, one said it was smart, and we burned 40 minutes arguing instead of talking about the actual book. Did that once and never again, but now I'm curious if anyone else in here does the same thing quietly?

I remember reading some study ages ago about people who finish books early and how they actually catch more details on a second read, which is kind of the same logic. That might be why your way works for you, knowing the destination makes the road signs easier to spot. But yeah, some folks treat it like a sacred code, so I get why it blew up. My advice if you ever slip up again, just frame it as a reading method, not a spoiler habit, and keep it vague.
