Spent $65 on a premium book club journal and it just sits on my shelf

I bought this fancy guided reading journal from an indie bookstore downtown thinking it would help me track discussion points for our monthly meetings. Turns out I hate feeling forced to write in structured prompts and I barely filled in three pages across six months. Has anyone found a low pressure system for keeping notes that actually works for them?

I mean is it really that deep, just scribble on a sticky note and call it a day.

Hey, you ever try just writing stuff on receipts or napkins after a meeting? I used to buy all these fancy notebooks for tracking my thoughts on books, but I'd always bail after a week. Now I just grab whatever scrap paper is around, jot down one or two things that stuck with me, and toss it in the book. It's a mess but at least I actually do it, you know?

You just toss it in the book? That's a bold move, I don't think I could handle that. My books are like old friends, I treat them with a certain respect. A crumpled receipt or a coffee-stained napkin stuffed in the pages would drive me right up the wall. I guess it works for you, but the thought of all that loose paper rattling around in there makes me nervous. I'd be worried about losing the note or having it fall out and get swept away. I admire the practicality, but I think I'll stick to my sticky notes placed neatly on the inside cover.
