Vent: A guy at my Tuesday book club in Portland said the ending of 'The Road' was obvious, and I still think about it
He leaned over during the snack break and said 'it's just a dad being a dad,' and I've never wanted to throw a copy of a book at someone so badly, so how do you all deal with members who flatten every ending into one boring line?
Man, this is everywhere though, not just book clubs. Some people just gotta boil everything down to one line so they don't have to sit with the hard stuff. I see it at work when folks sum up a whole rough year as "it is what it is" and move on. That guy probably cries at commercials but can't handle a book making him feel something real lol.
