Vent: My headband material frayed on a custom order and I lost a full day

I was finishing a leather-bound journal for a client and the decorative headband I was sewing in just kept unraveling. It took me about 8 hours of redoing the same 4-inch section before I realized my beeswax was too old and brittle to seal the threads properly. Has anyone else had a simple material fail on them like that?

Funny how the smallest thing can ruin a whole project. I never used to check my supplies for age, but a dried-out glue bottle taught me a hard lesson. Now I date everything when I open it.

Maybe it's just me but losing a whole day over some frayed thread seems a bit much. Couldn't you have just used some regular wax or glue?

My old sewing machine ate a whole spool of thread last month because the tension was off. I mean, it just shredded the thing.
