Appreciation post: Local community garden tomatoes have me wanting to grow my own, need advice
I saw the tomatoes at the community garden down the street and they look really good. I want to plant some in my backyard, but I have never done this before. How do I take care of tomato plants in a spot that gets full sun? The dirt in my yard is mostly clay.

How bad is the clay in your yard? I struggled with that too until I started adding bagged garden soil to mine. Full sun is perfect, so you're already halfway there.

My clay is so thick, @noah_murray, I could probably sculpt statues instead of growing plants.

Bagged garden soil is a good call, @noah_murray. My clay is like trying to dig into cold, gray play-doh that's been left out for a week. I went to plant a single shrub last year and my shovel got stuck. I had to wiggle it out like a loose tooth. I'm pretty sure the ground is laughing at me.
