I tried to fix my old bike instead of buying a new one

The chain kept slipping and I thought it would be a quick 30 minute fix. It turned into a three hour project because I had to learn how to adjust the derailleur limits from a YouTube video. I felt so proud when I finally got it rolling smoothly again! Has anyone else saved something from the landfill with a simple repair?

Tried a new spray-on curing compound on a garage slab in July

It was 95 degrees and the stuff set up so fast it left these weird, streaky patches. I had to go back with a broom finish to even it out. Anyone know a better product for hot weather pours?

Had a bleach reaction scare in my chair yesterday

Client's scalp started turning bright red and hot during a root touch up. I rinsed immediately with cool water and called her doctor, who said to use a topical antihistamine cream. Has anyone else had this happen and what's your first step?

Changed my mind about needing a guide for the Sawtooth loop

I spent $450 on a guided trip last summer, thinking I needed help with the route. The guide basically just walked in front of us for five days and pointed at the map we already had. I could have saved all that cash and just gone with my friends. Has anyone else found a trail that was way easier to follow than people made it sound?

I was trimming quarters way too short for years

An old timer in Boise watched me work last week and said 'You're leaving that horse with no wall to stand on.' I realized I'd been taking the hoof back to the white line on every trim, thinking it looked clean. How do you judge the right amount of sole to leave on a hard-working ranch horse?

I was ready to quit on a whole hog breakdown until I tried a different saw blade

Last month I had a 300 pound hog that just would not split cleanly through the spine with my usual blade, it kept binding and making a mess. Out of frustration, I swapped to a 14 TPI skip tooth blade I had for something else, and it went through like butter in under two minutes. I mean, I always thought a blade was a blade for that job, but the right tooth pattern made all the difference. Anyone else find a specific tool change that saved a tough cut?

My sister's cactus changed how I see 'boring' plants

Wow, that totally reminds me of my buddy's aloe plant. He was sure it was just a basic green thing for years, until one day he noticed it had pushed out a whole new set of leaves overnight after a big rain. He said it felt like watching it take a deep breath. @thea_wood86 I get saying a plant is just a plant, but sometimes you catch them in the act of doing their thing and it hits different. It's not deep in a philosophical way, it's just cool to see the effort. That aloe made him realize it's always working, even when it looks still.

My cousin's kid got 2 million views on a video of him falling asleep in his cereal

My friend's little sister got 15,000 followers for a video of her goldfish. It lasted a week before the weird DMs started. I get what irismartinez is saying about the comments, but the people just showing up at the house has to be the worst part. That's a whole different level of scary. I'd probably handle it worse than the Omaha kid's parents, I'd be the one accidentally going viral for yelling at a stranger in my bathrobe.
