My neighbor pointed at my monstera and said the aerial roots were a cry for help
I was out on the porch last Saturday repotting my monstera and my neighbor Deb walked by and asked why I had it in a 6 inch pot when the thing is easily 4 feet tall. She said the aerial roots going crazy meant it was basically looking for soil and I felt so bad because I thought they were just decorative. She gave me a 12 inch terracotta pot from her garage and helped me move it over, and it's only been 5 days but the leaves are already perking up. Deb has been growing houseplants in our neighborhood for 20 years so I should have asked her way sooner. How do you all decide when it's actually time to size up a pot?
Man, aerial roots are super normal for monsteras, they do that even in giant pots. Deb sounds like she knows her stuff but I wouldn't stress about it being some emergency SOS from the plant. Sounds like the repot helped either way so no harm done.
