Heard a neighbor complain about the new crosswalk on Bothell Way last Tuesday
I was standing in line at the QFC on Main Street and this older guy was going on about how the new crosswalk on Bothell Way is a waste of money. He said the city spent over $200,000 on a traffic signal that only gets used by a handful of people each day. But I see kids crossing there every morning to get to the bus stop near Pop Keeney Stadium. So is safety really something we should put a price tag on? Has anyone else noticed how much faster traffic moves since they put that light in?

Oh man, I totally get what you're saying! My friend Michelle lives right off Bothell Way and she told me last week that her kid almost got hit by a car there before the light went in. She was actually the one who went to a city council meeting to push for it. Now she says traffic is way smoother during rush hour because cars aren't slamming on their brakes every five minutes for people trying to dart across. I'd rather have a light that makes things safer and keeps traffic flowing than worry about the price tag.

Yeah, safety usually wins that argument.
