Thought I knew the Bothell Community Board agenda format until a guy at the library set me straight
Sat through 4 board sessions last year thinking I had to stand up and wait to be picked like it was class, and every time I got passed over I just went home annoyed. Last Tuesday at the Bothell library meeting this older guy named Ray leans over and says the sign-up sheet is by the door and you put your name down 24 hours ahead, not the night of. I checked the sheet after and sure enough there were 9 names on it and I never once looked at the clipboard. So all that time I thought the board was ignoring me, I was just a guy standing in the back of the room for 40 minutes like a chump. Went back Thursday and signed up for the next one, now I'm first on the list for the transit item. Anyone else get tripped up by how the sign-ups actually work, or is it just me?
Dude, that is so rough, four times standing there waiting like it was recess or something. I did the exact same thing at the Kenmore board meeting last spring, just kept popping up and sitting back down every time someone else got called. There was a clipboard the whole time right next to the coffee pot and I walked past it like three times. The worst part is you start making up stories in your head about the board not caring, when really you just never put your name down. Good on you for getting first on the list for the transit thing though, that one actually matters.
