Warning: I paid $299 for a blue check mark makeover after that influencer apology video
So against my better judgment I bought a "reputation repair" package from a brand that went viral for a fake apology video last month. $299 down the drain, and all I got was three canned social posts and a PDF that told me to just say sorry more. Here is the debate though: some people swear buying into a scandal brand is smart because the buzz is free reach, while others say you are basically paying to stand next to a dumpster fire. I fall in the second camp after this. The company issued its own apology six days after cashing my card and then ghosted everyone who complained. So which is it, are these comeback brands a real play or just a way to lose money? If you bought into one of these hype cycles, how much did it cost you and did it ever pay off?
