Explaining my job to a kid at a family barbecue led to the funniest misunderstanding.

Actually, from what I've seen, the fun part isn't just the mix-up itself. It's how the kid's brain linked 'lay bricks' to something they know, like laying eggs, which is kinda clever. So while @gracehernandez might not find it hilarious, that sort of direct kid thinking always gets me.
