Tried a new lime mix on a Chicago job last month. Did not go as planned.

Old school, we always used a 3:1 sand to lime ratio. This supplier pushed a 2:1 premix, said it was stronger. Laid about 500 bricks of a garden wall with it. Stuff set way too fast. Could barely tool the joints. Had to tear out a whole section before it locked up for good. Learned that faster isn't always better, especially in the heat. Anyone have a go-to lime mix for summer work that stays workable?

Man, did you check the lime's expiration date?

Wait, do limes even get expiration dates? I feel like they just turn into weird green rocks when they're done. Did yours grow a new life form or something? That's the real test right there.

Saw a thing once where a lime actually started sprouting.
