Huh, Tucson is the wild card here. Everyone focuses on the cost per pound, but nobody talks about the water. Canned beans have all that sodium and liquid weight, so you're paying for water you're gonna drain anyway. Bulk beans also mean you can control the salt, which matters when it's 100 degrees and you're sweating out electrolytes all day. Plus, the dry ones keep forever in the pantry, so you're not wasting money if you don't cook for a week.
