Had to decide between bulk rice or bulk beans this week
Had to decide between bulk rice or bulk beans this week. I only had $15 left for groceries until payday and needed something that would stretch. Picked up a 10 pound bag of rice for $6 instead of the beans I usually get. Been eating rice with whatever veggies I can scrounge for three days now and it's fine but I'm already tired of it. Anyone else find themselves stuck cycling between the same cheap staples?

I get it but honestly rice is way more forgiving than beans... you can fry it, make porridge, even toast it dry in a pan for a different texture. Beans take forever to cook and hurt my stomach if I eat them every day.

You tried making congee yet @phoenix_thompson4? That saved me when I was stuck on rice, just boil it way longer with water and a pinch of salt. It feels totally different from plain rice and fills you up for cheap.
