My mom told me to stop buying pre-shredded cheese and I fought her on it for months
She finally made me do a side-by-side cost comparison at Costco and turns out I was paying 40% more for the bagged stuff that has anti-caking agents anyway. Has anyone else found other "convenience" food that's secretly way more expensive?

Wait wait wait @aaron884 you just throw extra grated cheese in the freezer and it's fine? I've been so worried about freezer burn I never even considered that. Does it clump up when you thaw it or what?

Yeah @grant_allen85 it's true for block cheese too honestly I started buying the 5 pound blocks at Costco and grating it myself on a Sunday. Takes like 10 minutes and I just throw the extra in a ziploc in the freezer. Money adds up fast.
