My pressure cooker's seal split right before I was going to cook a big pot of beans.

It happened last Tuesday, and I was planning to use a $2 bag of dry beans for three meals. I ended up soaking them overnight and cooking them in my regular pot for about two hours, which worked fine but used more gas. Has anyone else had a pressure cooker fail and found a good, cheap way to replace just the seal?

Honestly, that's the exact reason I keep a spare seal in my kitchen drawer. Tbh you can usually find generic ones online for way less than the brand name part. Just make sure to check the model number on the bottom of your cooker. Ngl it saved me when mine went right before a big chili night.

Actually used to think buying brand name parts was the only safe way to go. That mindset changed after a seal failed on a Sunday with stores closed. Found a generic one that matched the model number and it worked perfectly. Now keeping a spare around just makes sense, avoids that last minute panic. Smart move planning ahead like that.

Yeah, I grabbed a three pack off Amazon for like eight bucks last year.

Actually soaking them longer can cut cooking time in half even with a regular pot, any truth to that?
