Spent 3 hours trying to find lentils that cost less than $2 a pound

I figured grabbing some dried lentils for soup would be a quick stop at the grocery store near my place on Broadway. But after checking five different aisles and three stores I finally found the cheap ones at Aldi for $1.29 a pound. The fancy organic ones were all $3 or more and I just dont get why simple lentils have to be that expensive.

Oh wow, I mean I went through something similar last month trying to find cheap black beans for a chili recipe and ended up at three different stores too. @keith_rodriguez is right about those bulk bins, but honestly my Aldi trip took so long I just grabbed a bag of frozen veggies instead and called it a day. idk maybe I'm just bad at shopping but it feels like grocery prices have gone totally wild lately.

Check the regular grocery store bins, they're usually under $2.

My Aldi is on Clement and it took me forever to find the lentils too, they hid them by the canned vegetables instead of the rice and beans aisle. I used to just grab whatever was in front of me and never paid attention, but after seeing this and reading what @keith_rodriguez said about bulk bins I actually went back and checked. The bulk bins at my local co-op had them for $1.49 a pound which is close enough, and I felt kind of dumb for not looking there first. It changed my whole mindset because now I actually compare prices instead of just grabbing the first bag I see. I still dont get why the basic lentils have to be so expensive when they're literally just dried beans but whatever.
