Shoutout to picking up local transit apps before a trip

I mean, downloading apps like Citymapper or local bus apps changed how I get around. Idk, maybe it's just me, but having real-time schedules on my phone avoids so much stress. I learned to check for weekly passes instead of single tickets, and it's way cheaper. Plus, you can plan routes offline if data is expensive.

something I didn't expect was how much just staring at the app's map taught me about a city's layout. you start to see how neighborhoods connect way before you even get there. it makes the place feel less like a maze when you finally step off the train.

It gives you a quiet confidence to explore without a phone out.

Thought you had to walk a city to know it. Then I got stuck planning a trip to Lisbon and just kept the map open on my phone for weeks. Started seeing how Alfama really spills down to the river, and where the main roads cut through. When I landed, I wasn't just guessing, I had a rough picture in my head already. Totally changed how I get ready for a new place now.
