Am I the only one who cancels all subscriptions every year?

I cancel every subscription I have each January, no exceptions. People say to just track them, but this reset makes me really think about what adds value, saving me money. Do you think this approach is too drastic, or have you tried something similar?

That yearly reset making you think is so smart. I do the same thing and always find a few I totally forgot about.

When you mention always finding a few forgotten subscriptions, that's exactly how it goes with so much of our clutter now. We pile on digital services and physical things without any natural point to stop and clear them out. Look at your phone, how many apps just sit there unused after the first week? It's the same with gym memberships or streaming services we keep meaning to cancel. Why does it take a calendar reminder to make us deal with what we own? That automatic billing Mary found feels like a symptom of living on autopilot. We're quick to add new stuff but slow to subtract, and that yearly reset is basically a forced pause button.

Ever notice how we become digital hoarders without realizing? I found an old email for a cloud storage service I hadn't used since 2018, still charging me. That kind of blind spending is exactly what your yearly checkup stops.
