Bought a $40 'miracle' stain remover that just made the spot bigger

Saw an ad for SparkleClean on social media. It promised to lift any stain in one go. Used it on a coffee spot on my couch. Now I have a huge faded patch and the stain is still there. Anyone know a real way to fix this without buying a new couch?

What kind of fabric is your couch made from? That's usually the first thing to check, because something like a wool blend needs totally different care than a basic polyester.

Totally agree about checking the cleaning codes first. I jumped straight to fabric type once and almost ruined a cushion because the tag said "S" only, no water at all, even though it felt like a basic synthetic. Those little letters are the real guide, not just how the thing feels. I make a point to find that tag now before I even think about grabbing a cleaner.

Actually I'd check the cleaning codes first, not the fabric type. Those little tags with W, S, or WS tell you exactly what cleaners are safe, @wilson.anna. I've seen two couches that felt the same but had totally different codes, so that's my go-to move.
