The rice cooker repair that saved my grocery budget in Omaha

My 12-year-old rice cooker died last Tuesday and instead of dropping $50 on a new one, I found a $6 heating element on an appliance parts site, swapped it in my kitchen while my partner watched football, and it fired right up, so has anyone else fixed something old instead of replacing it and actually stuck with the repair for more than a month?

Fixed my blender motor for $8, still running strong five months later. That rice cooker tip is gold.
