Watched a guy at a garage sale in Reno pay $8 for a Crock-Pot and I finally get why my budget never worked
I stopped at a garage sale on Keystone Ave last Saturday and watched this older guy hand over $8 for a used Crock-Pot, then he told me he hasn't eaten out in 14 months because of it. I laughed at first, but then he pulled out a little notebook where he logged every meal he made in it, and the math was nuts, like $2.10 a dinner. I had been spending $9 on lunch at the deli near my school three times a week and wondering where my money went. So now I'm keeping a tiny notebook too, except mine is just for food, and I'm at $61 saved after two weeks. Does anyone else track one tiny category instead of the whole budget, or am I making this harder than it needs to be?
