Got roasted in a journal swap group for my messy weeklies, and honestly they were right
I posted a pic of my October weekly spread in a swap group back in March and one person said it looked like a raccoon got into a sticker bin, which stung but was fair. I had 6 washi tapes, 4 pen colors, and a mood tracker squeezed into one page with zero white space. So I switched to a plain 2 column layout with one pen, and my setup time went from 25 minutes to about 8. Turns out I was decorating instead of planning, and my task list actually gets done now. Curious if anyone else had to strip their spreads way down before they started working.
Taking it even further, once you go simple for a bit you start to notice which decorations were actually doing something for you, like a color coded key or a certain sticker that marks paydays, and those are the only ones worth keeping. Everything else was just stuff I added because other people's spreads looked that way, not because it helped me get anything done. My advice is strip it all the way down first, then add back one thing at a time and see if you miss it.
