Turned down a side job that paid $400 cash, took the net 30 contract instead, and I'm still waiting on that check 47 days later
So back in March I had two people wanting basically the same thing from me, one was a guy I know from church who wanted me to do his books for his landscaping thing and he offered $400 cash the day I finished. The other was this small company over in Modesto that wanted the same kind of work but through a contract, net 30, and the total was $950. I sat at my kitchen table and went back and forth for like an hour because that $400 right now would have covered my truck payment and honestly I almost took it. But I figured the bigger number wins and it's a real company so who cares about waiting a month, right. Signed the contract, did the work in two weekends, sent the invoice April 2nd. It's May 19th and I'm still emailing their accounts payable person who keeps saying it's in the queue. My wife brings it up about every other day, not mean about it but just like hey did that check come. I keep thinking about those $400 that would have been in my pocket eight weeks ago and I'm sitting here doing math on whether it was even worth it. Has anybody had luck with a net 30 place that just won't pay, and what actually got them to cut the check, because I'm about ready to just show up at their office.
