Took me 6 hours to sort out a broken band saw blade issue that should have been 30 minutes
Honestly, I got a new band saw blade last week and it kept jumping off the wheel. Thought it was a tension problem, so I fiddled with that for a good 2 hours. Then I realized the blade was too long for my machine, but the supplier swore it was the right size. After another 4 hours of calling around and swapping parts, turns out the blade guide was slightly bent from shipping. Has anyone else had a new part cause way more trouble than it saves?

Wait, you actually check guide alignment with feeler gauges before every new blade install? Man, I used to just wing it and hope for the best but after reading this I'm definitely adding that to my setup routine.

Did you check the guide alignment before you started swapping parts?

Yeah the guide alignment thing is a trap. I messed up a full top end rebuild once because I assumed it was fine. Wasted a whole weekend ripping it apart again. Now I always double check with a straight edge and feeler gauges before I even think about touching the timing chain. Saves so much headache catching it early.
