Caught in a lie after using 'cap' incorrectly with my kid.

My son called me out for saying 'no cap' when I was actually unsure. Now I feel bad for faking slang to seem cool. Is this a common dad fail?

Honestly that's just trying to connect, not a fail at all. We all pick up bits of their world to stay in the loop, like learning what a "drop" is in a video game or the name of their favorite singer. Messing up the slang shows you're making the effort, and your kid calling you out means he's paying attention. That back and forth is way more real than staying in your own lane.

Yeah like david_park said about picking up bits of their world. My cousin kept calling everything "fire" for a whole summer, even his own bad cooking. It was so wrong it just became our funny thing to say.

Totally, those mistakes become inside jokes.
