Just found out 'ghost kitchen' doesn't mean a restaurant that's actually haunted lol

Read an article from Eater last night that said 1 in 5 new food delivery places in Phoenix are just virtual brands operating out of existing kitchens with no storefront, and now I feel dumb for thinking it was a clever Halloween-themed popup thing.

I also thought it meant a restaurant that was literally haunted and I was so excited about the concept. Found out the hard way when I ordered from "Spooky Sliders" and it was just a Chili's parking lot kitchen with a guy in a skeleton hoodie.

Figured out these ghost kitchens are basically the restaurant version of a catfish profile. Place looks like a legit local spot on the app with a cute name and a fake backstory, but really it's just a frozen food operation running out of a mall food court that closed in 2007. Ordered from "Coastal Catch" once thinking I was getting fresh seafood from some family joint. Turned out to be the same IHOP that burned down last year cooking frozen fish sticks in a toaster oven.
