I started testing coax lines and it fixed my biggest headache
I used to hook up to existing coax without checking it, thinking it was okay. After some jobs with weak signals, I began testing each line before connecting. Last week, I spotted a damaged connector that was ruining the signal in a whole unit. I swapped it out, and the TV signal came in perfect. The client was thrilled and even gave me a tip, lmao. Now I make sure to test every time, and my repeat visits have dropped a lot.

That step of testing every coax line before you hook up is honestly the biggest time-saver. I learned the hard way too (spent a whole afternoon chasing a ghost signal once). Now I keep a basic tester in my bag and it spots bad connectors or breaks in seconds. Catching something like a crushed line early means you fix it on the spot, and the customer never knows there was a problem. It turns a callback job into a one-and-done visit, which is way better for everyone. Plus, you look like a pro when the picture comes in clear right away.
