That homeowner who asked why I didn't use a toner changed my whole approach
I was wiring a new house in Phoenix last week and this retired telco guy was watching me. He asked why I was just tracing wires by color instead of using a toner to verify. Now I carry my Fluke Pro3000 on every job, cuts my troubleshooting time in half. Anyone else skip the toner until someone called them out?

right? "you owe him a coffee AND an apology" lol @parkera22 that's the real kicker. i mean you can't just skip the apology and hope the coffee makes up for it. that's like when you accidentally leave the telco guy on hold for 20 minutes and then try to smooth it over with a free donut. nah, you gotta own it first, then the coffee is just a bonus.
