I used to eyeball my tent stakes with a rock, now I carry a $12 stake puller after a bent pole in Yosemite
Kept hammering stakes in with whatever rock or shoe I had nearby until a trip last August where I bent two aluminum poles trying to yank a stuck stake out of hard ground. Now I bring a cheap stake puller and a small mallet, and setup goes way faster with zero damage. Anyone else learn this the hard way or am I the only one who wrecked gear before buying the right tool?
