My buddy swore by a cheap tarp from Harbor Freight for my car camping setup
I used it for a weekend in the Gifford Pinchot and a corner grommet ripped out during a light rain. Anyone know a good brand that can actually handle some weather?

Yeah, my friend had a similar thing happen with a cheap tarp on a trip up near Mount Hood. It wasn't even that windy, just a steady drizzle, and a whole seam just split open like a zipper. We had to scramble and use a bunch of paracord and a poncho to patch it up. He was soaked and pretty mad about it. That's when he switched to a heavier duty brand, I think it was Kelty, and hasn't had a single problem since.

My old man always said you get what you pay for with gear. That Harbor Freight stuff is fine for covering a woodpile but it falls apart when you actually need it.
