Appreciation post: the 2 line email that got me a raise after 8 months of waiting
My boss kept saying we'd talk about pay "soon" so I stopped asking in person and sent a short email with 3 bullet points about what I'd taken on since January. He replied in 20 minutes with a meeting invite, and I got 4k more. Anyone else have luck putting it in writing instead of catching them in the hall?
My old coworker did the same thing and it worked because paper trails are HARD to ignore. People can dodge you in the hallway but they can't dodge a message sitting in their inbox. Writing it down also made her sound way more calm than she would have in person.
