Learned the 5 minute rule at a networking event in Austin
Last month I went to this career mixer at a coworking spot off Congress Ave. I was doing the usual small talk loop, felt useless. Then this older project manager pulled me aside and said, 'What can you do in five minutes that saves an hour next week?' That hit me. Now I block the last five minutes of every Friday to clear my inbox, update my task board, and flag next week's big stuff. Makes Monday way less chaotic. Also started doing it before any big meeting, just to jot down the one question I actually need answered. Sounds simple but it changed my whole workflow. Anyone else got a tiny time trick that beats fancy productivity apps?
I do something almost the same but with sticky notes instead of apps. At the end of the day I write down the top three things for tomorrow on one note and stick it on my laptop, so I don't waste the first hour of my morning just staring at my screen trying to remember stuff. Also learned to draft replies to simple emails and save them, then send them all at once later, which sounds lazy but it honestly saves me like 20 minutes a day. Small stuff adds up more than any $10 a month app I ever tried.
