Shoutout to the paper planner that ran my whole job hunt in 2011
Back in 2011 I tracked every application in a spiral notebook I bought at a Staples in Columbus, wrote down the company, the date, and who I talked to, and it got me three offers in six weeks. Now it's all a spreadsheet plus alerts on my phone, and I honestly miss flipping back through the pages to see where I stood. Half the time I forget which jobs I even applied to because it's all buried in an inbox. Does anyone here still keep a paper log of their applications, or am I the only one?
Paper sounds nice in theory but give me the search function any day. When I was job hunting I had over 60 apps going at once and no way was I flipping through pages to find who I talked to three weeks ago. A spreadsheet lets me sort by date, color code the rejections, and see at a glance who ghosted me. The notebook is cute but it does not send you a reminder when you forget to follow up.
