That LinkedIn post about 'hustle culture' finally got to me
I saw a guy brag about working 80 hour weeks for 2 months straight to land a promotion. His post had 500 likes and people cheering him on. Why are we still treating burnout like a badge of honor in this field?

It's just weird how we've turned suffering into a competition. Like when I see people bragging about skipping sleep or meals to get ahead, I wonder when that became something to be proud of.

Ugh, this reminds me so much of a friend of mine. He worked at a startup and they had this whole culture of bragging about who stayed the latest. He pulled three 90 hour weeks in a row to launch a feature, then ended up in the ER with heart palpitations. Guess what? His boss just said "glad you're okay, now can you finish those reports?" and nobody even remembered his sacrifice a month later. So what's the actual payoff for burning yourself out like that?
