A tenant complained about my ripple seams and honestly, they were right
Last month I did a bedroom in a rental unit over in Tacoma. Used a power stretcher like always, but the room had a weird L shape and I got lazy with the final adjustment. The tenant came home early, looked at the seam near the door, and said it felt like a speed bump under their socks. I ran my hand over it and sure enough, there was a slight ripple I missed because the lighting hid it. I ended up pulling that section up and re-stretching it the next morning for free. Since then I've started walking every seam in bare feet before I call a job done. Anyone else get feedback from a non-installer that actually improved their finish work?
That bit about walking every seam in bare feet is the real takeaway, cheap quality check that catches stuff eyes miss. A buddy of mine had a homeowner point out a hollow spot near a doorway years ago, swore he'd been over it but the guy was right. He bought a cheap pair of white socks and now does a slow shuffle across every room before packing up, says it saved him two callbacks last year alone.
